For our research we researched our topic, in which we researched the stats and effects and outcomes of domestic violence. http://areyouok.org.nz/family-violence/statistics/

From are you ok.org.nz there are staggering numbers like "NZ Police recorded a family violence investigation on average every five and a half minutes in 2014."

This just shows us how common the issue of domestic violence for New Zealand is. But I research to learn about the outcome. I watched a documentary episode by Nigel Latta, Killing our Kids(https://www.tvnz.co.nz/ondemand/nigel-latta/nigel-latta-killing-our-kids/19-08-2014)

From this episode I learned a lot about the issues around domestic violence. One of the things this documentary had made me aware of was the facts leading to the abuse. I learned that the abuse could be due to the collapse of the society as Nigel Latta had discovered a community had a high domestic violence rate which increased when a factory that the community had fallen apart.

As well the parents at times had no way to cope and understand that violence isn't the way to solve their problems.

So made it apparent that we need to promote communication and empathy for having a healthy relationship with family. As well I want to approach the aspect of a factor of society's structure effecting the outcome of domestic violence as well by showing the loss of a community structure.

As well I researched why the game medium might actually help to push to message to people and allow them to emphasis and feel encouraged to communicate have promote this positive idea for families in New Zealand. https://blackboard.aut.ac.nz/bbcswebdav/pid-3859184-dt-content-rid-7048589_4/institution/Papers/DIGD502/Publish/cog-tech-si-g4g-article-1-belman-and-flanagan-designing-games-to-foster-empathy.pdf, from a book "Designing Games to Foster Empathy" there is a great quote that I believe help to support why I think games are a powerful medium for use to convey messages. "This is because they allow players to inhabit the roles and perspectives of other people or groups in a uniquely immersive way" in which I think allows us to have the player relate to information as well and have an emotional engagement were as a article doesn't have the same effect.

This means I think that a game can have a huge impact on helping people emphasis with our message but to do this we need to make the player engaging and relatable while making the world immersive, and I think if we can do this then we can have the player inhabit this game and better understand the message in our narrative.
