Terraria is a sandbox open world game, set in a 2d retro pixel art setting. It's filled with exploration, combat, mining and build, while doing all of this with your friends. This game uses many mechanics. Examples of these is its crafting. As you spend lots of time exploring and gathering resources you are then using these to build and craft. But this wouldn't be fun if these were things that were worth substantially working towards which in this game it does. Just like Minecraft you will work towards diamond as this is the best equipment which makes you the strongest these incentive are what drive the gameplay and in Terraria it's even deeper. You grind for better gear to survive and to fight bosses for even better and fight even harder bosses for even better gear. This cycle keeps you engage with this game for a long time and lengthens the crafting experience as you want to try everything which create a perfect cycle of interest in exploration and returning to the home you build to build new gear.

But again if the aesthetic style wasn't complementary these mechanics would fall flat. In this game it brings a great vibrant pixel art experience that truly shows the power of pixel art. The effects of the detail in the game and the art make you feel as though there's more detail which always makes it more engaging.

Overall this game has incredible pixel art world with a fun dynamic cycle of mechanics like exploration and crafting that keeps you engaged, and if you like free content the developers love to keep making more for this game as they have expanded heavily from when the original game released.

I give this game a 4.5/5
